A doctor died while spelunking!

With over 10 years of caving experience in his belt, a companion of qualified spelunkers and a medical practice behind, Dr. Adolf Espina’s death sent a chilling message outdoor enthusiasts and spelunkers alike: Spelunking is a risky hobby and equipment reliability is not just an option- it’s a must!

This tragic death reminds me of another outdoor related accident that curtailed the life of outdoor loving individual Ian Caasi, who drowned while swimming in Lake Venado last march. But Dr. Espina’s death, despite being relegated to the “malfunction of a carabiner” serves as a warning to us outdoor individuals. That in our chosen hobby, we must always be prepared and leave nothing to procrastination and laziness in bringing and using the right equipments and checking on them every time.
