Amidst the cloud of doubt, promotional hype, politicians’ jousts for “shared publicity” and so many other bashful whatnot, I still salute the Great Pacman Manny Pacquiao (Four division champion, best pound four pound boxer). If these pictures (thanks to Animo Hosting) do not depict the boxing power and talent of the Pambansang Kamao have in demolishing the Golden Boy Dela Hoya, I don’t know what else to call it.
Pacman stand as a monument to a poor man’s triumph from his humble beginning to a celebrated boxing prize fighter. Thanks to his talents, determination and Team Pacquiao (headed by the admirable Freddie Roach) Pacman’s awesome transformation is evident in all his fights. That’s why despite all the negative publicity about him, Pacman remained close to the heart of Filipinos.
And to the golden boy? If he “gave” this fight to Pacman for money (as some would speculate), I don’t think it would be a fitting career closure for a once grand champion (ten division championship and an olympic gold). Life is like that in boxing. Some great reign has to end for another one to start. Manny’s reign is just beginning! Is there anyone else eyeing for Manny’s achiles heel?
Mabuhay ka General Manny!
