It was post BlogFest SoCCSKSarGen 2010 (BlogFest 2010) when I decided to join a group of bloggers who would go romp at Sarangani‘s adventure places. I’ve never been to any of west Saranggani’s adventure places so I grab the opportunity on first invite. The next day,I woke up barely prepared. Sleep deprived and smelling sashimi drunk still, I sleepily walked to the service van and slumped on one of the back seats to sleep. Luckily, my tour van mates (Enrico Dee, Ryann Elumba, Zed Zabala, Leah Valle, Arnel Lim) share the same predicament as me, so we all doze “business class” up to the first stop, Maitum Sarangani.
(Just a warning though before I agitate you with my food vocabulary. I have none. I harbor only one bias taste buds, salty. I don’t like food with heterogeneous, complex tastes.)
The Breakfast at Cressings is to date, probably one of the best healthy, yummy, breakfast I had in years. I’ve been trying to have a “healthy” veggie salad breakfast ever since. This time, it came as a very salivating breakfast surprise. The main dish? This half dried, marinated flying fish, called Bangsi, is Saranggani’s delicacy you shouldn’t miss. I use to love golden tinapa but now marinated bangsi seem to have top my want to eat list. Bangsi paired with ripe tomatoes, steamed veggies, green mangoes and pale, honeyed (?) bagoong looked more like of a feast than a breakfast. Did I say I devoured boiled a yellow corn too but forgot all about the hard boiled eggs?
Then there is that distinctly tasting, aromatic and honeyed coffee served with brown sugar. As a coffee addict, this one definitely is indulgence to the max! I can’t help but ask for more servings. There’s rice coffee, corn coffee and other healthy, decaffeinated “coffee”. Unable to taste all, I bought coffee for my personal consumption. Up to now, I still have that other glass of rice coffee in my coffeeteria.
Even the juice served during breakfast is honeyed! No wonder such combination of fresh, healthy and honey flavored dishes deserved a place in Saranggani’s delicacy list! So if you’re all salivating now, I highly suggest you visit Nieda Ramos Cressing’s at Purok Namnamia Maitum, Saranggani Province and indulge on these delicacies. You can place your orders through this number 09193045279 or email cresings_maitum@yahoo.com.
