We spent the whole day travelling from Tacurong City to Balingoan Port but failed to catch the last ferry trip for Benoni Port Camiguin. So we slept at Harbor Inn for the night and took the first ferry trip for Benoni Port Camiguin the next day. We arrived at Benoni Port early morning the next day then rode a motorela (rela passing by in front of Benoni Port Gates) to Mambajao. We paid a total of ~php50.00 for a rela from Benoni to Tupsan to Mambajao.
Tip: Ride the regular rela just in front of Benoni Port and don’t fall for “fixed, contracted price” rela that may charge you from php200.00-php500.00.
We chose to stay in Mambajao town proper because of its proximity to almost all that we needed for this tour- supermarket, food places, jump off points and transportation. Of course there are other hotels, lodges, pension houses or inns in Camiguin but I thought travelling further carrying our backpacks would be a tiring first day. Here’s the hotels and pension houses “map” that I’ve visited in Mambajao, Camiguin.

A bit pricey but strategically located near the public market of Mambajao. Rooms price ranges from Php2,000-4,500 (single to family rooms). Has a bar and restaurant on it’s second and ground floors so you don’t have to go outside for places to eat. WIFI hotspot available for free. Go to http://www.camiguinrooftophotel.com/ for more info.
Travel Lodge and Food House
Probably the cheapest place to stay in Mambajao at php150.00 per room. More like a male dormitory beside PNB Building near old Mambajao Town Hall. Saw a foreigner backpacker staying here and got me thinking, “eh sya nga dito, kami pa!”. There’s a “carenderia” downstairs. Free WIFI. Just make sure you’re hungry enough to eat and tired enough to sleep faster than noticing you get what you pay for.

GV Hotel Camiguin
Burgos Street Mambajao,Camiguin
+63 88 387-1041
Stayed here because of their promo- 50% off their regular room price, strategic location in the heart of Mambajao and it’s proximity to other essential places in Camiguin- market, banks, food places, roads to and from other spots in Camiguin. No WIFI and restaurant though. Visit http://www.gvhotels.com.ph/camiguin/ for more info .
Tips: Browse their websites before going to the actual hotel locations. You can hire a rela (or walk if you’re up to it, these hotels are quite near each other except Villa Paraiso) to bring you to these hotels and inns if you wanted to take a look at the amenities it can offer. Ask for promos and discounts, especially during off peak seasons. These accommodations each cater to a distinct client group so choose where you’re pocket and comfort level will bring you.
