Perhaps the most famous of all “beaches” here in the Province of Camiguin. You’ve never been to Camiguin if you haven’t been into this white islet just ten minutes away off Brgy. Yumbing. It stands out by being picturesque from above (aerial), on top of Mt. Hibok-Hibok, on the beach level and underwater, like during snorkeling. Mt. Hibok-Hibok as its backdrop made this islet a favorite photo ops location for many of its visitors.
White island is actually a sandbar and its appearance affected by tides. I recommend you go there early in the morning, when the sun is not yet burning hot. To get there, you have to ride a motorized banca from (and back to) either Brgy. Yumbing or Agoho. Prepare to get wet or, get very wet, down under. I mean diving. You can swim with the waves (skimboarding seems possible), dive nearby (though haven’t done this one yet) or just snorkel at the inlet side.
You can actually just watch people come and go and might chance at celebrities strolling on the island. Of course be courteous enough to ask permission if you take photos of these celebrities. Saves you from trouble if your camera caught them on their inglorious state. Like someone I know, did.
Ok fine, they’re not your celebrities. But they are exactly my kind celebrities. Ligaya and Ulan! Getting the tan on white island!
Well, after getting enough “tan” on White Island, we head back to Brgy. Yumbing. On to Mantigue Island next post!
