Welcome to TrailAndFrame.com

“Trails, Frames, and the Inventure Within.”

Welcome to TrailAndFrame.com, a mindful space where the rhythm of hiking, the art of photography, and the search for balance come together. Whether you’re deep in your career, navigating midlife transitions, or simply seeking a pause in the noise, this is your trailhead.

I’m Dr. Remo Aguilar, an orthopedic surgeon by profession and an explorer by heart. What began in 2007 as a personal blog — a simple diary of hiking adventures and captured landscapes — evolved into something far deeper. Over time, the trails I walked and the frames I composed with my camera became a mirror. Each step outdoors reflected something within. Each image became a moment of stillness in a busy world.

I call this journey an inventure — an inward adventure through outward exploration.

Why Trail and Frame?

This blog and podcast are dedicated to busy professionals searching for something more:

  • A way to breathe again
  • A way to reconnect with nature — and themselves
  • A way to turn burnout into breakthroughs

Through stories from the trail, mindful photography, and lessons shaped by both science and soul, Trail and Frame offers a map toward self-awareness, calm, and creative rediscovery.

What You’ll Find Here:

  • 💬 Reflections on burnout and resilience from the front lines of healthcare and midlife
  • 📷 Photography techniques and visual meditations to slow down and see differently
  • 🥾 Hiking guides and gear advice that fit even the busiest schedules
  • 🧭 Inventure stories — personal and professional insights inspired by time outdoors

Because healing doesn’t always happen in the clinic.
Sometimes, it happens on the trail.
In the frame.
And within.
